Michael Fulmer was strong early in first start since spraining ankle

LAKELAND, Fla. – Michael Fulmer had a strong start and Mike Pelfrey had his best outing of the spring.

Those were just two of the positives that came out of the Detroit Tigers’ 4-3 win over the New York Mets today at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Fulmer came out strong after missing one start due to a mild ankle sprain. He struck out the side in the first inning and didn’t allow a hit until the third.

The Tigers overcame a 3-1 deficit in the sixth inning. J.D. Martinez hit his first homer of the spring to cut the deficit to 3-2 and finished 2-for-3.
