DETROIT -- Michael Fulmer was perfect through five innings, survived a scoreless sixth and then couldn't make it out of the seventh.
The St. Louis Cardinals scored five runs in the seventh to break a scoreless tie and beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The Cardinals (79-64) avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Tigers (59-84) and are still clinging to the second wild card spot in the National League.
Michael Fulmer retired the first 15 batters he faced, but walked the lead-off man in the sixth and then surrendered a single to Carson Kelly to end any suspense.
