Michael Fulmer laments unexpected injury: 'Baseball's a very humbling sport'

DETROIT -- Michael Fulmer was throwing a routine bullpen session at Comerica Park on Friday afternoon when he felt a tug in his abdomen.

Concerned, he threw another pitch.

This time there was no doubt. The Detroit Tigers starter knew he would be on the shelf for a while.

"There's really nothing you can do," Fulmer said Saturday. "It's not like I went out there cold and didn't warm up properly. I did everything I usually do. I didn't feel tight. It's just one of those things where it happened and there's nothing you can do about it.
