ERIE, Pa. — I asked Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila a quick, direct question: “What do you see when you look at Daz Cameron?”
“The future center fielder for the Detroit Tigers,” Avila said without hesitation. “He has all the tools. He’s performing well. We expect him to progress. He can hit. He’s a really good defender. He can run. He’s got all the tools to make it happen.”
Cameron is one of the trade boys — a direct result of the rebuild. He was acquired by the Tigers last summer in the Justin Verlander deal with the Houston Astros, one of three prospects the Tigers got along with pitcher Franklin Perez and catcher Jake Rogers.
