KANSAS CITY -- Cameron Maybin's rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo is officially over as his left wrist recovers from a hit-by-pitch on Sunday. The Tigers recalled Maybin on Wednesday and left him on the DL, but the injured outfielder could actually be closer to a return.
Maybin, on the 15-day disabled list since Opening Day with a fractured left wrist suffered on a Luis Severino fastball in a Spring Training game vs. the Yankees on March 1, took another pitch off the wrist Sunday. However, X-rays came back negative.
"Unless something strange happens, he'll play again [at Toledo] on Saturday," manager Brad Ausmus said Wednesday afternoon.
