Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer won his second consecutive National League Cy Young Award on Wednesday.
The Washington Nationals pitcher received 27 of 30 first-place votes. The other three went to Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
Former Tigers prospect Robbie Ray, now with the Arizona Diamondbacks, finished in seventh place.
In the American League, Corey Kluber won his second Cy Young, beating out Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale.
Justin Verlander, who was traded by the Tigers to the Houston Astros on Aug. 31, finished in fifth place. It's the sixth top-five finish of Verlander's career.
