Matt Manning’s season did not get off to a good start on Saturday afternoon in Toledo.
Manning cruised through the first two innings. He was sitting 94-95 mph and popped 96 mph a couple of times. He struck out two swinging through well placed high fastballs, and in the bottom of the first, Hao-Yu Lee drew a one-out walk and Justyn-Henry Malloy doubled him in to give him a 1-0 lead to work with.
In the third it all fell apart. A comebacker went for an error on Manning to lead off the frame, and he then walked Dayan Frias and wild pitched the runners to second and third.
