DETROIT -- The Tigers scored against Corey Kluber for the first time in 20 innings, which felt like a win in itself. It was not a win, thanks to a cruelly efficient Indians offense against Artie Lewicki and the Tigers' bullpen, sending Detroit to a 9-2 loss Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series at Comerica Park.
The Tribe took the series and left town with a five-game lead in the American League Central. The Tigers ended what might be their toughest week of the season schedule-wise with a 3-5 record against the Yankees, Red Sox and Indians, all potential playoff teams.
