Machado’s homer lifts Tigers past Orioles, 6-5

Detroit — Not much happened for seven innings.

Tigers starter Matthew Boyd was stingy for the third straight start. Home runs by Jeimer Candelario and, on his 35th birthday, Miguel Cabrera, had the Tigers up 2-1 entering the eighth inning.

Then all hell broke loose.

The dust didn't settle until Dixon Machado's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. The Tigers have won two straight over the Orioles, 6-5.

The Orioles scored three times off a pair of relievers in the top of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead. The Tigers countered with three in the bottom of the eighth.
