DETROIT -- Alan Trammell and Jack Morris were drafted by the Detroit Tigers 42 years ago.
This week, more than two decades after they retired from baseball, and after 15 fruitless years on the ballot, their long road to baseball immortality will finally be complete.
Morris and Trammell will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday in Cooperstown, N.Y. They will become the ninth and tenth players who spent the majority of their careers in Detroit Tigers uniform to be enshrined in Cooperstown and the first since Al Kaline in 1980.
