Alex Wilson came on to pitch for the Tigers in the top of the ninth, and set the A's down in order. Detroit is down to its last three outs, trailing 5-0.
Bottom 8th: Doolittle comes on, Tigers do little
Sean Doolittle replaced Oakland starter Rich Hill to start the eighth inning, and the Tigers picked up right where they left off, going down 1-2-3. After eight, the A's maintain a 5-0 lead.
Top 8th: Tigers hold A's, still trail 5-0
The Tigers, helped by a double play, held Oakland scoreless in the top of the eighth, in Kyle Ryan's first full inning after replacing Mike Pelfrey with two outs in the seventh.
