Live Tigers blog: Sanchez escapes 2nd inning

Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez gave up back-to-back singles with two outs, but he escaped the inning by striking out White Sox red-hot catcher Kevan Smith.

It’s 0-0 after the top of the second inning at Comerica Park.

White Sox designated hitter Matt Davidson ripped a two-out line drive single, and shortstop Tim Anderson followed with another base hit. That set the table for Smith, who entered tonight with a nine-game hitting streak, but Sanchez struck him out with an 84-mph splitter.

White Sox right fielder (and former Tiger) Avisail Garcia grounded out to start the inning.
