The Tigers seek to snap a seven-game losing streak as they resume a three-game series with the Nationals Tuesday at Nationals Stadium (7:05, FSD/97.1).
Clint Robinson’s walk-off home run in the Nationals’ 5-4 win Monday off reliever Mark Lowe extended the Tigers’ losing skid. The loss dropped the Tigers to 14-17 and leaves them in fourth in the AL Central, eight games behind the first-place White Sox.
Lowe’s penchant for giving up iconic home runs is a growing trend he’d like to quickly reverse. The right-handed reliever surrendered David Freese’s blast in the 2011 World Series and served up the pitch that Rangers’ Bobby Wilson blasted for a grand slam in Sunday’s loss.
