Familiar face Joakim Soria came on for the Tigers in the eighth inning and looked to be on his way to a perfect frame. Jarrod Saltalamacchia grounded into the shift on the right side of the infield and Raul Mondesi made a bad throw to first base to give the Tigers an extra out in the form of Victor Martinez, who grounded out to second on the first pitch he saw.
To start the inning, Ian Kinsler flew out to right field and Tyler Collins struck out looking and was ejected for arguing on his way to the dugout.
