Live MLB draft blog: Rays take two-way stud McKay at No. 4

The Tampa Bay Rays took possibly the best of the two-way players with the fourth pick, selecting Louisville pitcher/first baseman Brendan McKay. The 6-foot-2, 220 pounder was 31-10 with a 2.15 career ERA in three seasons with the Cardinals. At the plate, McKay hit .328 with 27 home runs and 131 RBIs. He is expected to be primarily a first baseman in the Rays system.

Padres take LHP Gore with 3rd pick

The San Diego Padres, with the third overall pick, selected left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore from Whiteville High School in Whiteville, N.C. Gore, a 6-foot-1, 160 pound lefty, is committed to East Carolina University.
