After a Jose Iglesias single to lead off the home half of the inning, Ian Kinsler popped out for the second time in the game. Mikie Mahtook then singled for the second time in three innings. Justin Upton flew out to center on the first pitch.
Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer to right field with two outs, giving the Tigers their first lead. J.D. Martinez then ended the inning with a swinging strikeout on a questionable pitch.
