Live blog: Tigers ride Verlander to 5-2 win over Indians

A big third inning was enough for the Tigers to take down the Indians for the second straight game, 5-2, on a chilly, rainy Tuesday evening at Comerica Park.

With the victory, the Tigers improve to 5-1 against the Indians in 2017, surpassing their win total against the Tribe in all of 2016 (4-14 against Cleveland last season).

It wasn’t pretty, and he would even tell you that, but Justin Verlander pitched well enough to earn the victory, his second of the year. He pitched seven innings (118 pitches), striking out five and walking four. He allowed just four hits and two earned runs.
