Victor Martinez foul-tipped strike three into Sandy Leon's glove for the first out. Mikie Mahtook then struck out in three pitches for the second out. James McCann finished the inning by popping out.

Justin Verlander looked to keep the Red Sox out of the hit column.
However, it didn't last long as Mitch Moreland lined the second pitch of the inning to right field and it bounced off the wall in foul territory for a double.
