Jacoby Jones stepped up to the dish with runners on the corners and one out. He fought off a few tough pitches from Jose Quintana before raking one deep to left field and gone for his first career major league home run to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
Justin Upton notched a single through the left side of the infield that was just out of the reach of Tim Anderson. Mikie Mahtook was hit by a pitch from Quintana to put the Tigers in business with two men on and nobody out.
