Live blog: Fulmer dialed in as Tigers win in Oakland

FINAL: TIGERS 7, ATHLETICS 2

Michael Fulmer pitched a gem, and the Tigers offense backed him up in a 7-2 win over the A's on the first game of their nine-game west coast road trip.

Fulmer went eight innings, striking out nine and giving up just one earned run on eight hits. He threw 107 pitches, showing great command of his fastball as he routinely blew away Oakland's hitters.

Victor Martinez was on base four times, including a two-run single in the third inning that staked Fulmer a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Jim Aducci cleared the loaded base paths with a triple to right field, pushing the Tigers lead to 5-0.
