DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Leonys Martin has made progress in healing a pesky hamstring injury by working with a physical therapist in Miami over the last several days, manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Martin is expected to return to Detroit on Monday. The Tigers are hopeful that he'll be ready to come off the disabled list when he's eligible later in the week.
Meanwhile, the prognosis is less positive about starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, who will not be ready to return when he's eligible on Wednesday.
Zimmermann was placed on the 10-day disabled list May 8 (retroactive to May 6) with a shoulder impingement.
