COMSTOCK PARK - Lance Parrish spent the past four seasons managing at Double-A Erie, last worked the Midwest League a decade ago with the Great Lakes Loons and now, at 61, finds himself back in Class A about to lead the West Michigan Whitecaps.
It provides a new challenge for the former eight-time all-star catcher, who has to buff some polish on players that in the past for him were closer to the major leagues than high school and college.
"It's really basically all the same," he said Wednesday. "I'm a teacher and whether I teach first grade or sixth grade or high school, I'm a teacher.
