Kirk Gibson will throw the first pitch at Comerica Park in 2016.
The former Detroit Tigers great and 1984 World Series champion will toss the ceremonial first pitch before the Tigers host the New York Yankees on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers released more Opening Day details today, including:
- Gates will open at 11 a.m.
- A military flyover of two A-10 Thunderbird II "Warthog" aircraft from the 107th Fighter Squadron and part of the 127th Wing located at Selfridge Air National Guard base.
- The national anthem will be performed by a brass ensemble from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles.
