Kerry Carpenter’s defense could cover some of the Tigers injury issues

While the Detroit Tigers have been blessedly pretty injury free on the pitching side of the equation so far this spring—knocks on wood—for once it’s the position player group with the brunt of the injuries. So far, nothing seems so serious as to cost Parker Meadows or Matt Vierling months of playing time, but at least in the early going they need to adapt. That may be as simple as finally turning loose Kerry Carpenter as their full-time right fielder to start the season.

Part of the Tigers initial plan for outfield depth was to keep Akil Baddoo in house.
