For Keider Montero, the 2024 season was one of dividends paid for years of hard work in obscurity. For most of his minor league career he was completely unheralded beyond local Tigers’ coverage despite his obvious potential. He finally got a little notice after his 2023 campaign at the Double-A level, and by June of 2024, he was the first call-up to reinforce the Detroit Tigers rotation as the starting pitcher injuries began to pile up.
It was an up and down season for Montero with some rough starts and some really good ones. We saw the quality fastball, high spin breaking balls, and solid split-changeup, but there were some bouts of poor command along the way as well.
