Detroit — Tigers relief pitcher Alex Wilson is the latest Detroit athlete to take issue with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
In a lengthy post on Twitter on Friday morning, Wilson wrote, in part, “disrespecting all the people who gave their life for him to have the right do that is not right.”
Kaepernick has caused a social-media firestorm for his refusal to stand during the national anthem in exhibition games.
He said he will continue to express himself moving forward, in protest of police brutality against minorities, including African-Americans.
Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem during the 49ers exhibition game against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night and was heavily booed.
