K-Rod gives up slam as Tigers are swept in Seattle, slip into last place

SEATTLE -- The Detroit Tigers will limp out of Safeco Field in last place after dropping four games to the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners' 9-6 win on Thursday night offered a fitting finale for a miserable series.

The Tigers' offense was held in check by a rookie starter making his MLB debut, and the game was sealed when reliever Francisco Rodriguez gave up a grand slam to Robinson Cano in the seventh.

The Tigers have lost six in a row, their longest since a seven-game skid on May 3-9, 2016.

They were swept in four games for the first time since May 28-31, 2015, at Anaheim.
