Oakland, Calif. — Nightmares are not supposed to repeat.
But another experience in sheer Tigers horror arrived in the ninth inning Sunday at Oakland Coliseum when the Athletics tore into Francisco Rodriguez for three runs in the ninth, the last coming on a two-run homer by Ryon Healy, that handed the A’s an 8-6 victory – and very possibly ended K-Rod’s days as Tigers closer.
The Tigers had wiped out Oakland’s early 4-1 lead with three unearned runs in the fifth, and James McCann’s two-out home run that McCann bashed on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth had put them ahead, 6-5.
