Justin Verlander’s return trip to Comerica Park was a good one.
Despite allowing some early hits — perhaps chalked up to the emotions of a pregame video tribute that forced him to take a deep breath or two — Verlander found his groove and threw seven innings against the Detroit Tigers on Monday night.
Verlander allowed two runs — one each in the second and sixth innings — but mostly overpowered the inexperienced Tigers. He left the game in line for his first win over his former team. With a win, he would have a victory over every American League team.
