Justin Verlander says he cried after Tigers game in 2014, thought career was over

After one of his worst outings of his career, former Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander thought his career might be over. Overcome with emotion and fear that his playing days were numbered, Verlander started crying.

Verlander admitted he didn't know what his future held at the time in a story posted by MLB.com Tuesday. The tears came after Verlander lasted just one inning on Aug. 11, 2014 in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Following a first inning where he surrendered five runs and struggled to throw a fastball, Verlander was pulled from the game with the team later saying he was suffering from shoulder soreness.
