He threw three scoreless innings against a loaded Washington Nationals lineup today.
Ian Kinsler, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Miguel Cabrera, Nate Schierholtz and Tyler Collins hit home runs in an 11-5 win at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Verlander allowed one hit and two walks with one strikeout. Over two starts, he has allowed two hits and three walks over five scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said before the game that Verlander’s pitch count would be around 50.
