DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers' rally goose was done in, perhaps fittingly, by a man from Goose Creek.
Justin Smoak, of Goose Creek, S.C., gave the Toronto Blue Jays the lead with a two-run home run in the sixth and then put the game away with an RBI double in the seventh.
The Jays avoided a sweep, beating the Tigers 8-4 on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (28-31) snapped a four-game winning streak, while the Blue Jays (26-33) ended a five-game losing streak.
Both teams combined for just four singles through five scoreless innings, but the Jays broke through in the sixth against Tigers starter Michael Fulmer.
