Jim Adduci, back for another year, hopes strong spring will force 'tough decision'

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Jim Adduci is back for another year, and the long winter hasn't cooled his hot bat.

The journeyman outfielder, who emerged as an unlikely fill-in for the Tigers in 2017, was re-signed to a minor-league deal this winter and invited to spring training.

He's taken full advantage of the opportunity, going 7-for-16 with two home runs so far in Grapefruit League play.

"I've been able to put some really good at-bats together," he said. "I did a lot of work in the offseason. Not only that, but I've been working with (hitting coaches Lloyd McClendon and Phil Clark) and it's turned out pretty well.
