DETROIT -- Jeimer Candelario drilled a 102 mph fastball over the left-field fence in the ninth inning to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.
Canderlario's two-run home run came off Cardinals rookie Jordan Hicks, who routinely serves up some of the fastest pitches in all of baseball.
The Tigers (58-83) took the series opener from the Cardinals (78-63), who are fighting for a playoff spot.
