— The Tigers used a dash of hot sauce from red-hot J.D. Martinez and a sprinkle of power from Victor Martinez, all spiced by another big hit from Alex Avila, to beat the Orioles, 6-5, Thursday at Comerica Park.
The Orioles took a 3-0 lead against Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann, but the Tigers fired back, with J.D. Martinez maintaining his fiery ways when he tied the game, 3-3, in the third with a three-run blast into the left-center field bullpen.
It was Martinez’s fifth home run in six games since returning to the Tigers last week following a two-month layoff because of a sprained foot.
