Kissimmee, Fla. – It didn’t begin well. But it finished wondrously Friday for the Tigers as they came back to stomp the Braves, 11-3, at Disney World’s Champion Stadium.
James McCann, who had been having his issues with the bat, busted loose for two doubles and five RBIs as the Tigers rocked Atlanta for 17 hits. John Hicks, playing first base, also had a pair of doubles in a game that saw the Braves take an early 3-0 lead.
Daz Cameron, the center-field prospect Detroit got from Houston in last August’s trade for Justin Verlander, slammed a long, opposite-field, two-run double in the Tigers’ seven-run seventh, as did another Tigers farmhand outfielder, Cam Gibson, who bombed a two-bagger to left.
