The Hens jumped out to an early lead, and Ryan Carpenter came through with a strong outing to get the second half off on the right foot. Jacob Robson landed the big blow, launching a three-run shot in the top of the first to account for all the Hens’ runs on the night. Carpenter went six innings of one run ball, while Trevor Rosenthal allowed the Bats second run in the eighth inning to make for a bit of a nail biter. John Schreiber was perfect with a pair of strikeouts to earn his third save for the Hens.
