CHICAGO — When the weekend series between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox began on Friday night, it was 62 degrees and partly sunny.
After a cool four days in Boston, the Tigers’ bats took kindly to the warm-up, knocking hits and home runs all over the yard in the early innings, opening up a big lead.
There were back-to-back home runs in the first inning — even one from Miguel Cabrera, his first of the year — and by the fourth inning, Cabrera was a triple away from hitting for the cycle.
