There was a message written on a white board above the stairwell heading into the Detroit Tigers’ indoor batting cage this morning. It read, “Pick somebody up!”
And in the fourth inning, right-hander Shane Greene needed somebody to pick him up.
But after he left the game with a blister on his middle finger, righty reliever Drew VerHagen wasn’t that guy. Neither were the nine men in the starting lineup, who walked to and from home plate with consistency once again.
No, the Tigers have not been picked up by anything as of late.
