SEATTLE -- The Detroit Tigers will be facing a rookie starter making his Major League debut in the series finale here on Thursday.
The Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday afternoon that right-hander Andrew Moore would be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to make the start in place of struggling veteran Yovani Gallardo (3-7, 6.30 ERA), who is being pushed to the bullpen.
Mariners manager Scott Servais announced the move to local media about three hours before Wednesday's game. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus found out 30 minutes later when a Seattle reporter asked about Moore.
