Ignoring boobirds and looming trade treadline, Tigers focus on positive after late win

DETROIT -- In the midst of a line of questioning after Thursday's win, Justin Verlander cut in with a request.

"I prefer to focus on the positive."

The question was about his five walks; or maybe it was Francisco Rodriguez's performance; or the health of Miguel Cabrera; or the Tigers' fleeting chances in the AL Central.

"In this clubhouse, I think we're in a good frame of mind," Verlander said. "We've been through this before. We've had seasons where we didn't start off very well and ended up making the playoffs with a lot of the same cast.
