DETROIT -- Time is running out on the Tigers' season, and with it, any chance of shortstop Jose Iglesias returning for any more games at the end.
"I'd be shocked," manager Brad Ausmus said of a chance at a return for Iglesias, out since Sept. 3 with a bruised right middle finger.
Ausmus said last week that Iglesias would need a few days of batting practice before any return would be considered. He hasn't been cleared for that yet, and if he doesn't swing a bat by Sunday, he probably wouldn't go with the team on its season-ending road trip to Texas and Chicago next week.
