DETROIT -- Living under the shroud of impending employment uncertainty seems to play well with the Detroit Tigers.
That is especially true for the players less likely to be dealt at the trade deadline if the Tigers don't put together a contending season -- or, more specifically, a contending first 100-or-so games -- because they are the ones holding together the Detroit offense while the team's biggest stars simmer.
Why not put this team under perform-or-split threat? More than a decade with an elite roster should have produced more than two World Series appearances and zero championships by now.
