SAN DIEGO -- About the only time players think about the trade deadline -- which is still, for the record, five weeks away -- is when reporters bring it up.
That's the assessment of Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, and he's probably right. There are any number of reasons for the Tigers' current seven-game losing streak and their current spot in last place, but fretting about July 31 isn't the primary cause.
"I'm not saying it doesn't come up, but it's not priority when they are in the middle of a game," Ausmus said.
