The Detroit Tigers remain on the hunt for a starting shortstop.
The search began at last month’s General Managers meetings, where GM Al Avila met with a number of representatives for shortstops on the free-agent market, and figures to continue during next week’s Winter Meetings in Las Vegas.
The Tigers’ market has been defined: They are looking for a single-season stop gap option, a second-division type player who can take over for Jose Iglesias and serve as a bridge to the team’s next wave of prospect infielders.
