Hardy stymies White Sox to seal series win

DETROIT -- Blaine Hardy looked less like a lefty reliever in a spot start and more like a stopper, quieting an aggressive White Sox lineup for one run over seven innings as the Tigers took the rubber match of the three-game weekend series with a 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Hardy's third start in place of injured Jordan Zimmermann was his best yet. The cerebral southpaw induced quick outs galore from a free-swinging White Sox club, allowing just three hits while throwing 85 pitches. None of those pitches topped 90 mph.
