Last night Miguel Cabrera hit his 399th home run. Thanks to a very understanding Cardinals fan, he got it back.
Miguel Cabrera joined rarefied company last night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. His seventh inning two-run shot to straightaway center field tied him with both his countryman, Andres Galarraga, and Detroit Tigers great Al Kaline, at 399. While Cabrera continues to downplay his own individual success and focus on his team's goals and the long season ahead, this was clearly an accomplishment that meant a lot to him.
As reported on BYB and elsewhere, Andres Galarraga was a hero to all Venezuelan baseball players at a time when they were few and far between in the major leagues.
