Gleyber Torres to the IL, Justyn-Henry Malloy recalled from Triple-A Toledo

New Detroit Tigers’ second baseman Gleyber Torres has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 29th with a left oblique strain. Justyn-Henry Malloy has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo in his stead.

Torres clearly felt the injury after hitting a solo home run in third inning of Friday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He reached for his side as he jogged the bases, and while he initially stayed in the game defensively, the Tigers pulled him out of the game the next inning.

Reports after the game indicated that Torres had been dealing with some soreness in the area for at least a few days prior to aggravating on the home run swing.
