CLEVELAND -- Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire spent some time chatting with Nicholas Castellanos before Friday's game at Progressive Field.
The location? Right field. The topic? Right field.
"We were just talking about him, the way he goes after balls," Gardenhire said. "He just wants to catch everything for his pitcher."
But not everything is catchable, and Gardenhire said it's sometimes wiser to let the ball bounce off the wall, rather than bounce your body off it.
"You can't catch every one. If they hit a rocket, let's keep it to a double, not ricochet it off the wall and then you're chasing it," Gardenhire said.
