Welcome to the 2018 season! The Tigers will kick things off with a home series against their designated National League rival, the Pittsburgh Pirates. The weather forecast looks grim, but Jordan Zimmermann will take the mound if they even bother trying to get this game in.
On the other side, Ivan Nova and the Pirates will be looking to start their own season off with a win. The Pirates finished the 2017 season at a disappointing 75-87 and dealt away Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole over the winter. We don’t expect to see the Pirates in the playoff hunt this season, but they aren’t rebuilding at the same magnitude as the Tigers, either.
